Bunnykins debuted in 1934, created by Royal Doulton and illustrated by Sister Mary Barbara Bailey, daughter of the company’s general manager. By 1984, the beloved Bunnykins line was celebrating its 50th anniversary (Golden Jubilee), releasing special scenes that paid homage to quaint village life and timeless family moments. The “Mr. Piggly’s Stores” scene is a delightful nod to traditional market shopping—and yes, the punny “Piggly” is an endearing wink to English humor. Early backstamp editions like this are extra collectible among Royal Doulton fans.
